Important Announcement for Mathmatters Participants
Yesterday, we sent this schedule information along with your student ID number, room and seat number to the email addresses that you used during registration.
If for any reason, you didn't receive any information, you may just show up on Saturday, November 4th between 9:15am and 9:45 am, to get your information from our front desk during check-in.

Welcome to our 11th annual MathMatters Contest registration page.  The competition, which will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Beehive Science and Technology Academy (830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy), is open to all fifth and sixth grade students in Utah. The contest is limited to the first 350 registrants.

We will send out a detailed program of the day to registered contestants about a week before the contest. But to give you a sense about how the day is set up, please find a sample schedule below.

9:15am – 9:45am          Check-in
10:00am - 10:30am       Mathmatters Contest in Classrooms
9:30am- 11:00am          Activities for Parents and Students
10:30am – 12:30pm      Test Scoring
12:30pm - 1:30pm         Award Ceremony
The contest requires students to take a written test of 15 questions within 30 minutes.  Students are not allowed to use calculators.  Participation is free, and prizes will be given to the top students and their teachers. Student prizes include an IPAD Mini, Kindle Fire HD 8 and a Kindle Fire 7.  Teacher prizes include gift certificates in $150, $100 and $50 amounts. 

A question from last year’s test reads, “Tara bought some pencils spending $2.59 in total. Each pencil cost the same price and the number of pencils Tara bought was less than the price of each pencil in cents. How many pencils did Tara buy?”
