BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

TO HOLD TWO GRADUATION CEREMONIES

Sandy—Beehive Science and Technology Academy, the Sandy-based charter school for grades 6 through 12, will be holding two graduation ceremonies in keeping with COVID-19 precautions.

On Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m., the school will hold a drive-in graduation in the school parking lot at 830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy.  Students and their families will be invited to sit in their cars for the ceremony.  Diplomas will be given to students in a yet-to-be determined manner.

Beehive’s class of 2020 includes 22 graduating students.

A second graduation ceremony will be held sometime in July or August depending on health department guidelines.  This formal graduation ceremony will include speeches by faculty, staff and students as well as a guest speaker. This graduation ceremony will probably be held off campus.  More details will be forthcoming from the school.

According to Beehive Science and Technology Academy Executive Director/Principal Hanifi Oguz, the decision to hold two graduation ceremonies was based on surveys from parents and students.

Beehive Science and Technology Academy opened in 2005.  The school was founded by a group of scholars that saw a need for a school that emphasized science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
