Sandy, Utah — Beehive Science & Technology Academy, the Sandy-based charter school for grades 6 through 12, has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2019-2022. The school was previously recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017–2019.
Beehive Science & Technology Academy Principal Hanifi Oguz noted that Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership and educational excellence that use technology to inspire creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. These schools showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
Oguz added, “Our staff, faculty and students use iPad and other Apple technology to enhance the learning process and to simplify administrative functions. Every student at our school is loaned an iPad for the school year. I believe that our use of technology is a driving factor in establishing Beehive as one of the state’s premier STEM schools. What’s more, our extensive use of technology played a major role in the Utah State Charter School Board’s approval of our request to expand our school to include grades kindergarten through 5 in the near future.”
