FIFTEEN BEEHIVE STUDENTS WIN AWARDS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

Salt Lake City--Beehive Science & Technology Academy students captured 15 awards at the University of Utah Science and Engineering Fair March 20 through 22. According to the University of Utah’s website, “The University of Utah Science & Engineering Fair (formerly named SLVSEF) is an annual science and engineering competition for students in grades 5-12. Participation in science fair stimulates students’ interest in science and technology while simultaneously promoting the development of communication, decision making, evaluation of alternative solutions and critical thinking.”

Sandy--Beehive Science & Technology’s FIRST (an acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League Competition team, Plan Bee, captured two trophies in a qualifying round held Feb. 3.  As a result, Plan Bee will be going on to the state competition to be held at Weber State University on Feb. 10.

Sandy, Utah—A team of five students from Beehive Science & Technology has won a first-place prize in the gold tier division of the state competition of CyberPatriot.  The five students are Czarina Land, Kaitlin Doddridge, Sahana Kargi, Sasha Singh and Tabarak Abdulameer.  Beehive faculty member Sumeyye Guney oversees the CyberPatriot team.

BEEHIVE’S FIRST TECH CHALLENGE ROBOTICS TEAM MOVES ON TO STATE FINALS

Sandy, Utah—Beehive Science & Technology Academy’s FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics team won first place in the robot game finals tournament held at West High School on Jan. 13.  Twenty-four teams from Northern Utah took place in the competition for students in grades 7 through 12.

UTAH FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS CAN NOW REGISTER FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL MATHMATTERS CONTEST

Salt Lake City—Registration forms are now available for the 11th annual MathMatters Contest.  The competition, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Beehive Science & Technology Academy (830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy), is open to all fifth and sixth grade students in Utah.  The contest is limited to the first 350 registrants.

Sandy, Utah—Beehive Science & Technology Academy was one of only eight high schools in Utah to receive an A grade from the Utah Board of Education for 2017.  The Utah Board of Education released its list of new grades in late September 2017.

BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY STUDENTS WIN THIRD PLACE IN THE ROBOT GAME COMPETITION AT THE FIRST LEGO LEAGUE COMPETITION WORLD FESTIVAL IN HOUSTON 

Houston, Texas—A team of students from the Utah charter school, Beehive Science and Technology Academy, captured a third-place award in the robot game at the FIRST LEGO League Competition held this past weekend in Houston, Texas.  To qualify for Houston competition, Beehive’s team, named Beehive Robotics, took first place in the robot game and won the first-place Champions Award at a competition held Feb. 11 at Weber State University in Ogden.

BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY SIXTH GRADERS BEAT OUT HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS TO WIN AN AWARD AND $1,000 AT THE HIGH SCHOOL UTAH ENTREPRENEUR CHALLENGE

Sandy—Two sixth grade students from Beehive Science and Technology Academy have won a High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge award during a competition held April 15.  Beehive’s Timothy Holt and Allison Drennen received a special exception to compete against high school juniors and seniors at the Challenge.  Holt and Drennen were the youngest students in the competition.  The sixth graders were given $1,000 and the Best Prototype Award for their project, Air Scare.
