BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY NAMED CHARTER SCHOOL OF THE YEAR BY THE UTAH ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS
Sandy, Utah—Beehive Science and Technology Academy in Sandy, Utah, has been named Charter School of the Year 2016 by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.
Beehive Science and Technology Academy was selected for this honor over the approximately 120 other charter schools in Utah. According to the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools, criteria for the selection included achievements, student outcomes, innovation, programs, quality of education, community engagement and other educational areas.
According to Beehive Science and Technology Principal Hanifi Oguz, “This honor is a reflection of the high quality of education offered by our charter school. We’re proud of the impact we’ve had on our students for the past several years, and we would not be in this position without the many talents of our staff and teachers.”
Beehive Science and Technology was recognized as Charter School of the Year 2016 at an awards dinner June 13.
About Beehive Science and Technology Academy
Beehive Science and Technology Academy is a Title I charter school located at 830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy, Utah. Beehive offers classes for grades six through 12. As of March 2016, total enrollment was 300 students.
In 2015, Beehive was included in Newsweek America’s Top High Schools list. In Newsweek America’s category of “Beating the odds—top schools for low-income students,” Beehive was listed as number 57 in the entire United States. (In 2014, it was recognized as number 231.)
