BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY HIRES TWO TEACHERS

Salt Lake City—Beehive Science and Technology Academy, the Sandy-based, tuition-free charter school, has hired a science teacher, Alex Taylor, and an English teacher, Joseph Post.

Taylor earned her associate’s degree in biology from Snow College in 2011 and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Utah University in 2016.  When she was at Southern Utah University, she worked as a teacher’s assistant, science tutor and student research assistant.

On her application for Beehive, she wrote, “I want to teach so that my students can leave my classroom with a spark ignited that encourages them to ask big questions!  I want them to know that they can ask questions where the answers are not in a book, and to know that they can solve the problems and find the answer they are looking for.  I want to instill the confidence in their ability to solve problems on their own, without someone telling them how.”

Post earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University in 2013 and his master’s degree in English the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015.  As a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he was a graduate teaching assistant.

On his application for Beehive, Post wrote, “I believe that all students harbor the potential to communicate clearly and effectively.  Through teaching university courses, I have seen that as students reflect on their own abilities under an instructor’s guidance, they will be better equipped to identify their strengths and weaknesses.”
