BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY PRINCIPAL RECEIVES HONOR FROM THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS

Sandy, Utah—Beehive Science and Technology Academy Principal Hanifi Oguz has been selected as a 2016 Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction for “excellence in teaching and for the encouragement of the dedication to the academic success of students” by the National Society of High School Scholars.  (Claes Nobel is the founder of the National Society of High School Scholars.  He is also the grandnephew of Albert Nobel, founder of the Nobel prizes.)

    According to the organization’s website, “Founded in 2002, the National Society of High School Scholars has inducted over 1 million members from over 160 countries, with more than 100,000 new scholars joining annually. NSHSS recognizes academic excellence among high-achieving scholars, offering a wide array of resources supporting transitions from high school to college, and college to career.”

           Oguz has been the principal of Beehive Science and Technology Academy since 2011.  In 2012, he was given a Certificate of Congressional Recognition as an Accord Institute Administrator of the Year.

NSHSS is an honor society that recognizes top academic achievers from high schools around the world. Its mission is to recognize academic excellence among high school students and to encourage members to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. About Beehive Science and Technology Academy

    Beehive Science and Technology Academy is a Title I charter school located at 830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy, Utah.  Beehive offers classes for grades six through 12.  As of March 2016, total enrollment was 300 students.  

    In 2015, Beehive was included in Newsweek America’s Top High Schools list.  In Newsweek America’s category of “Beating the odds—top schools for low-income students,” Beehive was listed as number 57 in the entire United States.  (In 2014, it was recognized as number 231.)  Beehive was also named Charter School of the Year 2016 by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.
