BEEHIVE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY TO HOLD TALENT AND ART SHOW WITH HOT DOG BARBECUE AND RAFFLE ON MAY 4

Beehive Science & Technology Academy, the Sandy-based charter school for grades 6 through 12, will be holding a talent and art show with a hot dog barbecue and raffle on Friday, May 4 at the old Spoons ‘n Spice store at 788 E. 9400 S. Suite 32 in Sandy (Beehive is located in the same shopping center at 830 E. 9400 S.).

 

     The barbecue will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and cost for a hot dog dinner will be $3.  The talent and art show will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and admission is free.  As part of the evening, 20 gift baskets will be awarded as part of a school-wide raffle.  Raffle tickets may be purchased in advance at the school during regular school hours or at the event.  Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six for $5 or 12 for $10.  People don’t need to be present at the event to win.

     The gift baskets were put together by Beehive home rooms.  Themes for the baskets include “Star Wars,” “Pool Party,” “The World,” “Movie Night,” “Things in Your Backpack,” “Sweet Treats,” “Entertainment,” “Mystery Box,” “All Things Chocolate,” “Pasta,” “Game Night” and “Superheroes,” among others.

     Every student at Beehive will be given a raffle ticket.  In addition, Beehive faculty members have been given some additional raffle tickets to give to students for their accomplishments and good deeds.  Proceeds from the raffle will go to Beehive’s FIRST (an acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams. Beehive represented Utah in international FIRST LEGO League competitions in Houston, Texas April 18 through 21.  In addition, Beehive will represent the state at another international competition to be held in Fayetteville, Ark. May 17 through 21.
