BEEHIVE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY’S FIRST LEGO LEAGUE TEAM ADVANCES TO STATE COMPETITION

Beehive Science & Technology’s FIRST (an acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League Competition team, Plan Bee, captured two trophies in a qualifying round held Feb. 3.  As a result, Plan Bee will be going on to the state competition to be held at Weber State University on Feb. 10.

 

     The team was second place in the robot portion of the event.  Plan Bee also won a Champion’s Award for first place in the qualifier.

     Forty-two teams from around the state competed in the qualifying round.  This round had four separate parts:  core values, team project, robot design and robot games (robot games has the robot performing various tasks on the playing field). 

     Team members on Plan Bee include Aiden Pasinsky (8th grade), Arika Awan (8th grade), Becket Harris (8th grade), Gretchen Harris (7th grade), Maya Choate (8th grade), Mohammed Hussain (7th grade), Nicholas Jacob (7th grade), Numair Hussein (6th grade) and Saee Ashtaputre (7th grade).

     The Beehive Science & Technology Academy LEGO League Competition coach is Edward Eliason and  the assistant coach is Renea Menendhall.

     According to Beehive Science & Technology Principal Hanifi Oguz, “We also would like to thank all of the parents and staff who helped make all this possible. Without them this would be almost certainly an impossible task.”
