KSTU AND BIG BUDAH BROADCAST LIVE FROM BEEHIVE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

KSTU’s Big Budah broadcast live on the station’s “Good Day Utah” morning program from Beehive Science & Technology Academy on March 21.  Beehive students were interviewed by Big Budah while they demonstrated a variety of STEM-related projects.

The live shots opened with Aiden Pasinsky and Arika Awan lighting a dollar bill on fire, but not damaging the currency in the process.  The bill had previously been dipped in a solution of half water, half alcohol and a little bit of salt.  Beehive’s FIRST LEGO League Robotics Team and FIRST Tech Challenge Team demonstrated how their robots competed in previous local competitions.  Casey Rickets and Lauren Anglesey demonstrated EBRU, a method of making artistic marbled papers, and Boden Dwyer and Xidis Minson conducted a demonstration of atmospheric pressure in which a soda can was crushed.  Finally, Fletcher Calderbank discussed the math between harmony and melody, and demonstrated his musical talents on an electronic keyboard (he once performed with the Utah Symphony when he was just 12 years old).
